Nicolas Ghesquière's and Balenciaga have chosen Jennifer Connelly as the new model for the next ad campaign for the spring-summer 08 collection. We know the beautiful actress ("Requiem for a Dream" or "Labyrinth" for instance) is the designer's favourite and this photoshoot is not a surprise as we had seen her wearing Balenciaga's dresses before.
Even if the shape of the dress is very close to Cristobal Balenciaga's design, the ad captures the futuristic-space inspiration of Nicolas Ghesquière: blue backgroud, space heels, white-pale skin...
However we do not really feel Jennifer at her ease on those pictures (or is it the unwearable dress ?) and that's a shame. It is actually almost frightening : check her arm...reminds me of Mechanical Animals the cover of Manson's glam-rock's album...
